Navigating everyday situations can feel like a difficult challenge, and making positive changes can sometimes feel like a faraway goal. If you've ever felt this way, I'm Adam Law, a psychotherapist, chaplain and life coach located in Toronto, Ontario. My mission is to support adults on their journey to find calm amidst life's chaos.
Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety speaks its own language, it affects your mental and physical well being as well as your emotions. A few hallmark symptoms are stress, fear and worry.
But an anxiety disorder can also have signs that might seem more subtle:
-
From messing with your sleep and causing procrastination to feeding into overthinking and bouts of depression, hyper vigilance, oversensitivity, mood swings, reduced social life, anger issues, inability to relax, as we can see anxiety can infiltrate every part of your life.
-
Other physical symptoms include stomach aches, nausea, racing heart, headaches, anger issues, and constricted breathing are also unwelcome companions on this challenging journey.
Finding Balance
When seeking a fulfilling life, many individuals hope to maximize their potential, foster meaningful relationships, and gain control over their thoughts. As a psychotherapist and coach, I understand with these aspirations and through practical techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help individuals gain more skills in their mental health toolbox, to learn to understand and control your anxiety and transform these aspirations into realities.
Facing Anxiety
Anxiety is very common; According to Statistics Canada, the prevalence of mood and anxiety disorders has substantially increased substantially over the past 10 years. The percentage of Canadians aged 15 years and older meeting diagnostic criteria for generalized anxiety disorder doubled from 2.6% to 5.2% between 2012 and 2022. In the US, according to forbes over 40 million adults aee affected by anxiety making it the most prevalent mental health disorder in America. This underlines the growing significance of addressing anxiety as a prevalent mental health concern.

The increase in numbers of adults with anxiety is partly also due to our day and age. Economic struggles, housing issues, job challenges, and the impact of social media make anxiety more prevalent. Seeking help can be hard for individuals, especially when there's a lack of awareness about anxiety or the different solutions available. In addition, lacking a support network can make it scarier to confront anxiety and seek guidance.

As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe space for you to learn about your anxiety and gain the mental health toolkit to have positive change in your life. Together, we can address your thoughts and behaviors and work towards live a life with more ease and happiness.
